Mahoney Flower Market started with a simple love of flowers.
There’s something incredible about watching a tiny seed grow into something beautiful. That process never stops feeling meaningful, no matter how many times you see it.
Our Story
Mahoney Flower Market began with Coleen’s lifelong connection to plants, gardens, and outdoor spaces.
With more than 20 years of experience as a garden consultant and landscaper, and a Prairie Horticulture certification from Olds College in Alberta, her work has always been grounded in understanding how things grow and where they thrive. Over time, that experience naturally evolved into a deeper focus on flowers.
The moment that shift really took hold came through learning more about flower farming and the endless possibilities within it, from growing blooms from seed to experimenting with colour, form, and seasonality. What started as curiosity became something more intentional.
Coleen’s connection to growing is also rooted in something earlier. Time spent on her grandparents’ farm in southern Alberta, surrounded by crops, animals, and open space, shaped a lasting appreciation for working with the land. That sense of care and familiarity still carries through in everything she creates today.
How We Grow
Mahoney Flower Market is an Alberta-grown flower business, with flowers grown across urban spaces in Edmonton and Calgary by Coleen and her sisters.
Seeds are started in a garage and grown in containers, balconies, and family yards. This urban approach allows for intentional growing while making the most of the space available.
Alongside what is grown in-house, flowers are also sourced from other local Alberta flower farms to offer a wider range of seasonal blooms. It’s a collaborative approach that supports the local growing community while maintaining variety and quality.
What Matters to Us
We believe in growing locally and sustainably, and in supporting other flower farmers whenever we can. Our focus is on creating products that feel natural, organic, and thoughtfully made, with quality at the centre of everything we do.
What that looks like in practice:
Growing flowers locally in Edmonton and Calgary
Supporting other Alberta flower farms
Prioritizing quality and care in every product
Creating pieces that feel natural, not mass-produced
Offering something unique, seasonal, and thoughtfully made
Each piece is created with care, with the hope that it becomes a small but meaningful part of your space, something that brings beauty, feels unique, and adds a sense of enjoyment to your everyday.
